Main boat man designates a soldier in the third-highest sergeant rank in Germany with the German Federal Armed Forces within the German navy. In the other armed services this rank is called main sergeant. Belonging one of the group of careers of the officers go through this rank as a cw2 to sea.

Soldiers in this rank can give crews and NCOs without Portepee of instructions within the borders set by the superior regulation (VorgV).
