Mairie is a French term for a place with a Maire (= mayor) at the point. Mairie meant roughly translates thus .
The term designated also the lowest French administrative unit during the time of the occupation of the Rhine country by from 1800 to 1815. The municipality structures in the Rhine country, in particular in the linksrheinischen part, were up to the local reform in the early Siebzigern 20.
