A man-machine system is present if a human component works on a task with a technical component together.

Bases

The human component (humans) thereby is individual humans or a group of humans, the technical component (machine) is an individual machine, a vehicle, a complex technical plant or a technical process.

The substantial of the viewpoint as man-machine system is it to see humans and machine as together acting unit and with all questions, for example after security, efficiency or task distribution of regarding both components in their borders and abilities and their interaction.

Research methods

Realizations over man-machine systems are won by observation in genuine situations (for example in the context of a task analysis), by the employment technical systems simulated from test subjects (for example in driving, flight or process simulators) or on the basis models for humans.
