Margin (franz. price margin/distance/clearance/difference) is a term from the management economics and becomes in the range trade, in the credit and stock exchange nature, as well as in the forwarding business nature uses.

In the trade the difference between on and selling price is called margin. In the credit system one understands the difference between customer and refinancing interest rate by the margin. In the securities trading the margin indicates the difference between the bond issuing price and the current rate of a security.

With the arbitrage the margin in the stock exchange or foreign-exchange trading designates the course/price discrepancy between several commercial centres and/or stock exchanges. The different prices, course or interest at the different places are profitably used.

Transport prices in the forwarding business nature, in particular in the goods traffic, which do not plan a fixed price, but a payment within a certain clearance, are called bracket tariffs. Upper and lower bounds are agreed upon, which must keep the participants of the orders for transportation.

Gross margin: Selling price less purchase price = gross margin less value added tax contained in it
