Maud Leonora Menten (* 20. March 1879 in haven Lambton, Ontario; "† 26 July 1960 in Ontario) was a Canadian Medizinerin. It developed together with the German biochemist Leonor Michaelis a theory to enzyme kinetics, which is called to today Michaelis Menten kinetics and together with the ideas heard from Lineweaver and Burk to in practice the most frequently used models.

Life

Maud Menten was one of the first Mrs. Kanadas, who locked a medicine study (1911). 1912 went it to Berlin, where she worked with Leonor Michaelis.

Starting from 1918 she worked in the pathology of the University of Pittsburgh and published to many topics of the medicine and biochemistry. Among other things it researched at the blood sugar, at hemoglobin and at the function of the kidneys. Between 1951 to 1954 it researched at cancer, then it returned to Ontario, where it died 1960.
