The Melderegister is led in Germany with the residents' registration office. It serves for the storage of the following data:

• Surname, earlier names, first names
• Doctor degree, medal name/artist name
• Day and place of the birth, sex
• gainfully employed/not gainfully employed
• legal representative/parents from children to completed 27. Lebensjahr (pre and surname, doctor degree, address, day of the birth, if necessary day of death)
• Nationality (EN)
• legal affiliation to a religious community
• present and earlier addresses, main and Nebenwohnung, date of in and excerpt
• Family status, with married one additionally day and place of the marriage ceremony, spouse (pre and surname, doctor degree, day of the birth, address, if necessary day of death), children up to the completion 27. Lebensjahres (s.o.)
• Exhibition authority, date and validity period of the identity card/passport
• Transmission barriers (e.g. with danger for lives, health or personal liberty)
• Day of death and - place
• Fact that the concerning is excluded from the right to vote
• according to tax law data
• possibly the fact that passport reasons for refusing are present, a passport failed or was extracted or an instruction was given, according to which the document of identification no longer to entitled leaving the Federal Republic of Germany.

In Austria the dates of registration are led since 2002 in electronic centers the Melderegister (ZMR).

The data cover:

• Name, sex, dates of birth (place, date, Land of the Federal Republic, if inland convenient, and state, if abroad convenient)
• Reporting register number (ZMR number) and the nationality
• with strangers besides kind, number, exhibition authority and date of issue as well as the state of the exhibition of the travel document
• Road/house number/staircase/door, postal zip code, local municipality/Land of the Federal Republic
• Date of on and/or notice of departure, name of the accommodation giver
