Metaxa is a Greek Spirituose from wines and wine fires.

The winegrower Sypros Metaxa invented 1888 by mixing wines and different wine fires with a herb mixture the Metaxa. The fires are stored in oak barrels, which colors the Metaxa gold yellow. Mainly five-star (at least five years stored) and filter star Metaxa are sold (at least seven years). The Grand Fine with particularly selected distillates and a minimum storage of 15 years in Limousin forms the high-quality Metaxa.
