MINERGIE is a mark for lasting building, protected in Switzerland. It belongs to the cantons Berne and Zurich. The association MINERGIE operates certifying and the marketing of this label.

Minergie is the most important energy standard in Switzerland for low-energy buildings, recently also for passive houses (Minergie p). The requirements are differently defined for twelve building categories (MFH, EFH, administration, schools, sales, restaurant, meeting restaurants, hospitals, industry, camp, sports structures, indoor swimming pools). The requirements are just as different with the reorganization of old buildings and for new buildings.

Zurzeit are certified about 13% of the new buildings and 2% of the reorganizations in Switzerland after Minergie. Usually existed partly still not one built building acts around housings, with the other categories. The indoor swimming pool in Kilchberg (ZH) should be the first after Minergie built. A goal of the national energy program energy Switzerland is a market share of 20% of the new buildings to 2010 and 5-10% of the reorganizations.

The Minergiestandard is comparable in beginnings with the German standards KW40 (new buildings) and KW60 (reorganizations).

History

The association was created 1998 on private level. The cantons Berne and Zurich played a pioneer role. In addition, the association is open to natural and legal entities. The first product was Minergie as low energy standard. At the end of of 2001 was begun in a pioneer phase to introduce Minergie P as passive household pool of broadcasting corporations. These efforts are resumed until today, it give meanwhile over 4000 certified Minergie objects and scarcely 40 Minergie P objects.

Certifying

Certifying after Minergie effected due to the examination of planning values, it is thus no warranty that the certified values are actually kept. Investigations of the university for technology, economics and social work pc. Gallen show however that the values are fallen below with reorganized housings and newly built EFH on average, with newly built housings the standards in practice scarcely are only exceeded.

Minergie tries to reach energy standards primarily with a close and well isolated building cover. This can be promoted with technical editions in planning and be examined after the realization with measurements like the heat picture recording and the Blower Door test.

Certifying of an object is liable to pay the costs, for a small Minergiehaus amounts to the fees to time 750 CHF.

For certifying there are two ways: The system proof and the standard solution.

System proof

For all building categories with exception of the again built EFH the proof must be furnished over the energy consumption per surface, which can be expected. The energy consumption may not with new EFH and MFH 42 kWh/m A exceed. To reorganizations applies a limit value of 80 kWh/m A. as energy essentially fossil energy is designated. The warm water is for the sake of simplicity enclosed in the limit value. If the house is exclusively solarly heated, primary energy consumption does not play a role. With buildings over 800 M. M. increase the limit values.

Depending upon building category different additional requirements apart from the energy consumption apply. With EFH, MFH, restaurant and indoor swimming pools a ventilation system with heat recovery is compellingly prescribed. Thus it is to be ensured that Minergiebauten are noticed not only as energy-saving, but for the inhabitant also as comfortable. During administrative training course and sales buildings besides an energy-efficient lighting is required for SIA 380/4.

Standard solution

For the simpler proof of again built EFH one of five standard solutions can be selected. As standard solutions are available:

  1. Heating and warm water preparation all year round with heat pump heating system based on brine
  2. Wood heating with warm water preparation over solar collectors
  3. automatic wood heating such as pellet heating, warm water preparation likewise over the heating
  4. Use of long-distance heating from waste heat
  5. Heat pump heating system with air for space heating and warm water

Furthermore insulation values must be kept, for walls 0,2 W/m K, for window 1,3 W/m K. additional are prescribed a ventilation system with heat recovery with the choice by standard solutions.

Appreciation

It is surely praise worth, if Anstrenungen are undertaken to decrease the energy consumption for the space heating. Minergie leads because of the prescribed tightness and isolation even to sound-closer and because of the higher wall temperatures buildings which can be inhabited more pleasantly. Savings with the fossil energies are also considerable, need a Minergiehaus nevertheless only about thirds of an average building.

Criticism

Different points of criticism are brought to the standard.

  • It does not mean anything over the actual energy consumption out, but only over the planned value. If the inhabitants leave the windows open in the winter, the energy consumption is planned more highly to lie than. An investigation over 500 buildings of min suppl. IE showed on however that the standard is kept on the average.
  • The total costs from investment and enterprise are not a criterion, Minergie must, cannot be however economical and are often connected with higher capital outlays.
  • The criterion of Minergie that extra costs may constitute conventional comparison object "“only 10% opposite one "„, is to be proven on demand of the certification body and rather improbable.
  • By the ventilation system the inhabitant receives better possibilities the space quality to control, is the ventilation audibly is better her to adjust.
  • As much Minergie in the concrete case brings, sowenig is suited it for the solution of the world-wide energy problems. Immediately if all new buildings and reorganizations were accomplished after the standard, the energy expenditure reduces only insignificantly. This because annually only a small part of the houses be reconditioned must. Here is still action need.
  • Existing objects

    The most well-known reorganized Minergiebauten:

    • MGB of the Migros,
    • the former UBS and today urban administration buildings become in Zurich
    • the former SWISSAIR administration building in the Balsberg Kloten.

The most well-known min suppl. IE new buildings:

    • Office building Leonardo (CS) Zurich,
    • Sunrisetower (BVK) Zurich,
    • IBM new building Zurich,
    • SAP building rain village,
    • ZKB new building hard,
    • div. Administration buildings of Swiss RH in Adliswil and Zurich
