VEB the collective combine Minol, based on 1 January 1956, was responsible in the GDR for the supply of force and lubricants.

The trade name MINOL developed 1949. The German fuel and mineral oil center (DKMZ) and the GermanRussian naphta AG (establishment 1927, reestablishment 1946), created the VEB fuel selling. Both - DHZ and VEB fuel selling - created the VEB MINOL on 1 January 1956.

Under the label name Minol were driven out all products VEB, it had at the time of the wall opening in the GDR a Bekanntheitsgrad of 97% (SAM-polarize Institut: Basic study MINOL in the FRG, September 1990). In other countries this mark was not used. The mark colors of the old Minol were red writing on yellow background. The Maskottchen, which was Minol Pirol, in the GDR very well-known.

To the end this number include also small stations and operating stations existed to the GDR also over 1300 Minol gas stations.

The VEB Minol has already in June 1990 under guidance of the chairman of the board on 8 June 1990 again created MINOL the mineral oils AG, Wolfgang Burkhardt, which order gives for the production of a modern mark Design. A goal was it to establish the Minol as own mark in united Germany.

The order included the entire enterprise identity (Corporate Identity) also. These CI of the agency HC ANDRESEN communication company ltd. with seat was developed in Munich. The prominent persons were on the side of the agency Hartmut Ciesla Andresen (concept) and Michael Pfister (Design).

The new, violet Design of the MINOL was a large success and led to a clear increase of the paragraph.

On 8 June 1990 the VEB became Minol a corporation under the name MINOL mineral oil trade AG. This operated three societies for the fuel selling:

• Minol north tank GmbH with seat in Rostock
• Minol central tank GmbH with seat in potsdam
• Minol south tank GmbH with seat in Chemnitz

In the course of the privatisation of the GDR economics the MINOL AG as well as the refinery Leuna was sold to the French mineral oil company eleven Aquitaine. The Leuna affair overshadowed this sales. The mark MINOL did not resume eleven Aquitaine two years after assumption of the enterprise any longer.

The mark MINOL is held today (2005) by the French company Total, for the successor company of the eleven Aquitaine.

In order not to leave the trademark laws purged, total had medium-effectively again-opened 2003 and 2004 three min oil tank places (Berlin, Chemnitz and Leipzig) in the violet Design. From economic reasons the stations in Berlin and Chemnitz were however soon thereafter again concluded already. Today only only one Minol gas station exists: in Leipzig Lindenau, road.
