Moritz Kaposi [] (* 23 October 1837 in Hungary; "† 6. March 1902 in Vienna) was an important physician.

Originally its surname Kuhn read, with the crossing to the catholic faith changed it its surnames in Kaposi as support to its place of birth.

1855 it began a medicine study in Vienna and attained a doctorate 1859. In its Habilitationsschrift "„Dermatologie and Syphilis "“(1866) he provided an important work in this Bereich.1875 became he the professor at the university in Vienna berufen.1881 became he member of the board of the general hospital in Vienna and director of the range skin diseases.

With its boss Ferdinand of Hebra it wrote the book "„to text book of the skin diseases "“(1878). Its Hauptwerk was "„pathology and therapy of the skin diseases in lectures for practical physicians and studying "“(1880). Are counted over 150 publications by Kaposi.

1872 it described for the first time the Kaposi Sarkom, which it had discovered at five older Jewish patients and than "„idiopathisches multiple Pigmentsarkom had designated "“. This tumor was relatively rare, and only by the appearance from AIDS it came to sad meaning.
