Feldenkrais (* 6. May 1904 in Slawuta, Ukraine; "† 1 July 1984 in Tel Aviv, Israel) was a physicist, neuro physiologist more undJudolehrer.

Feldenkrais developed the Feldenkrais method designated after it, an body-oriented Lernmethode, by which personal action patterns are to be recognized and extended.

Life

Feldenkrais emigrated 1918 to Palestine. First he worked in road construction and as a private teacher for children, in addition he learned Jiu Jitsu and taught it later also. 1927 he put his Abitur down at the Theodor Herzl High School into Tel Aviv and went to Paris around electro-technology studying mechanics and afterwards physics. After its study it attained a doctorate. From 1933 to 1940 he worked as a nuclear technician in the laboratory of Irene Joliot curie and Joliot, the for chemistry 1935. During this time it met on Jigoro Kano, the founder Judo. It created the first Judoclub France and attained as first Europeans the black belt. Feldenkrais emigrierte 1940 to Great Britain. From 1940 to 1946 he worked for the British admiralty in Scotland, and continued besides his research and attempts in neuro physiology and neuro psychology. In this time it held lectures before the British Association OF Scientific Workers, which later formed the basis for its fundamental book "“Body and mature behaviour"”, which appeared 1949. In the same year it rejected the establishment of its own institute in London from means of private donors. It decided instead to help to Palestine to return over at the structure of the again created State of Israel. He worked there first in Forschungsinstitut of the Ministry of Defense, starting from 1952 dedicated he however completely to the elaboration of his own method and was based its own Feldenkrais institute. Starting from end of the 60's he trained the first generations Feldenkrais teachers. In addition e.g. belongs. Jerry Karzen. Up to its death 1984 it informed in Tel Aviv and increased to France, England and the USA was invited, in order to present its method. He trained the second and third generation of the Feldenkrais teachers in trainings in the USA: San Francisco 1975-1978 and Amherst, 1980-1983.
