The term Most seriously affected countries (MSAC) is of the United Nations fixed more socialeconomically, however outdated status, which a group of extremely poor countries possessed everywhere in the world. These countries in the world most strongly concerned were a stage under lease Developed Countries arranged, in which particularly poor countries are divided.

The designation "“Most Seriously Affected Countries"” developed in consequence of the oil crisis of 1973 and disappeared toward end of the 80's from the UN-vocabulary. Differences becomes today only between leases Developed Countries, the Landlocked Developing Countries and the Small Iceland Developing States.

Countries of the MSAC were divided after the following characteristics:

  1. a low pro head gros domestic product
  2. a small Industrienateil at the GROS DOMESTIC PRODUCT
  3. a high illiterate rate
  4. one-sided export structures with simultaneous degradation the term OF trade
  5. high indebtedness
  6. economic recession
