MTV3 is claimant a private Finnish television station, by Bonnier and Proventus. MTV stands for Mainos TV (advertising TV). The market share amounted to 2003 38.1%. The Logo of MTV3 is the eye of an owl, which replaced the older Eulenlogo 2003.
MTV3 is one of the four finnischsprachigen transmitters (beside the two YLE transmitters and Nelonen), which take Finland off country-wide.
On 13 August 1957 MTV3 was created off as MTV under the company Oy Mainos TV Reklam, and is thus the third-oldest private television station of Europe. At first the program consisted a transmitter divided by MTV only of transmitting time on, to 1986 Kolmoskanava (TV3) in co-operation with YLE and Nokia developed. 1993 took over MTV the TV3-Anteile of YLE and Nokia. Alma Media Oy sold MTV and the slave transmitters MTV3+, SubTV, Urheilukanava and radio new facts 2005 to the Swedish group of Bonnier and Proventus.
