Municipal office the offices of a political municipality without own city hall are called. Particularly in Bavaria these were common before the municipality regional reorganization in small municipalities. In particularly small or financially municipalities more badly placed the local administration was often accommodated in the house of the mayor officiating in each case.
Larger municipalities often had one or more office rooms in the school building or in the of the Freiwilligen fire-brigade, where then the mayor and - if available - the gemeindlichen clerks their office business followed.
Meetings of the local council often took place for lack of meeting room therefore in the class room or in the adjoining room of the village pub.
Municipal offices today often still exist in municipalities, which belong to a central administrative body.
