The Musculus buccinator (lat.: Cheek muscle or Trompetermuskel, outdated also Musculus buccinatorius) is a skeleton muscle, which essentially forms the cheek (cheek).
With animals one differentiates a Pars buccalis (cheek part) and a Pars lain more deeply molaris (meal-teethe-hurry).
The Musculus buccinator presses the cheeks against the tooth rows. It transports food from the lateral oral cavity forecourt back into the actual oral cavity. In addition it is activated with activities such as Pusten (therefore it Trompetermuskel).
