The two heads meet in the center and form a common intermediate chord (humans, horse) or a chord strip.
The Musculus digastricus is an opener of the mouth and/or muzzle column and is thereby an antagonist of the chewing musculature.
The front belly becomes the rear of the Nervus, of the Nervus mandibularis, facialis internal fourth.
