The Musculus extensor carpi radialis longus (lat.: long radialier Handstrecker) is one radial skeleton muscles of the lower arm. It is covered with humans by the Musculus brachioradialis.
With the domestic animals it is the strongest lower arm muscle and forms the kraniolaterale outline of the lower arm. Since the Musculus does not occur extensor carpi radialis brevis with the domestic animals, the muscle is called simply Musculus extensor carpi radialis.
The Musculus extensor carpi radialis longus stretches the hand in the wrist and is responsible for their Abduktion (bend the hand toward thumbs). Involved it is further at the diffraction of the lower arm in the elbow.
