The Musculus more masseter (briefly: Masseter) is one four masseters of the mammals. It rises at the yoke elbow and the Crista facialis the Oberkiefers and advertises at the lower jaw. The muscle permitted beside the actual Kieferschluss also sideways and longitudinal movements of the lower jaw and provides in such a way for grinding the food. The Masseter is derived, like also other masseters, from the first Kiemenbogen and become therefore from the first Kiemenbogennerv, the Nervus mandibularis internal fourth.
