The Musculus obliquus externus abdominis (lat.: Outside diagonal belly muscle) rises alternating with the points/teeth of the Musculus serratus and the Musculus latissimus dorsi of the 5. to 12. Rib. It pulls with its belly chord (Crus mediale) to the Linea alba and with its basin chord (Crus lateral) to the intestine leg.
Between its two final chords the outside border ring lies.
The Musculus on one side bends obliquus externus abdominis the trunk to the same side and turns it to the opposite side. Co-operate muscles of both sides, then they are responsible for the diffraction of the trunk and the elevation of the basin, further for the Exspiration.
The muscle can more or less have points/teeth. In addition it can come to growing together with the Musculus serratus and the Musculus latissimus dorsi. Now and then the Obliquus is divided also by intermediate chords. None this impairs the function of the muscle.
