The Musculus palmaris longus (lat.: long hollow hand muscle) is a superficial muscle on the front of the lower arm. The slim muscle sets for a chord sheet under the skin of the palm in the Aponeurosis palmaris. With the domestic animals the muscle is not trained.
The Musculus palmaris longus is involved in the inflection of the hand in the wrist, in addition he stretches the Aponeurosis palmaris.
The muscle can be missing completely, the Aponeurosis palmaris is nevertheless always present.
