The national enterprise for data processing and statistics (LDS) exists since 1 January 2001. It belonged to the division Ministry of the inside of the country Brandenburg (ministry of the Interior) and has its seat in potsdam as well as branch offices in Cottbus and Frankfurt (or). At present approx. 520 woman employees and coworker are busy.

The national enterprise developed existing national office for data processing and statistics with the goal from that for up to then scarcely ten years of developing the LDS to a competent Dienstleister for information and communication for the Landesverwaltung Brandenburg. The main columns of the LDS are the departments of data processing and statistics.

The data processing advises and supports the Landesverwaltung with the employment of the information technology (IT). She cares for the national administrative net, the communication interlocking and the data and telecommunications group of the country Brandenburg, operates the central IT-procedures of the Landesverwaltung, like rent subsidy, family budget account system and the procedures for the Personalverwaltung. The IT-from and advanced training for training and official of the Landesverwaltung takes place in potsdam.

Further the data processing supports the dressing and evaluation of the multiplicity of data, which the official statistics seizes. At present altogether over 250 federation and European Union statistics as well as 25 national statistics from all ranges of the social life - also for elections and populars vote - from the LDS are raised, prepared, summarized and evaluated. With the publication of most diverse publications the official statistics the information requirements becomes fair from economics, society and science. The library holds a broad pallet ready of statistic data as the largest special library of the country Brandenburg and answers so hand in hand with the information service questions approximately around the official statistics.

In the Internet the LDS holds an extensive data offer ready free of charge for the country Brandenburg and its circles and circle-free cities as well as selected data on municipalities.
