Need for information quantity and quality of the information necessary for the solution of a certain problem are named.

It is task of the information management to cover this need by the supply of suitable internal and external information resources (see information resource management).

To differentiate is (objective) the need for information of the subjectively felt need for information. The actual need for information of an organization or a person should be determined by a methodical need for information analysis.
