Net equipment Effectiveness (NEE) is a characteristic number for the so-called net entire plant effectiveness. The characteristic number developed following the OEE (gross entire plant effectiveness). Into the net entire plant effectiveness losses are also included, which develop for effects at a plant and on production have.

The OEE of a plant is defined as the product of the following three factors:

  • the efficiency (Availability)
  • the efficiency factor (performance rate)
  • the quality rate (quality rate)

Its range of values lies between 0 and 1.

The efficiency

The efficiency is a measure for losses by plant losses. Contrary to the efficiencies in the OEE preparation and setting-up procedures remain unconsidered. It is defined as follows:

Nutzungsgrad= \ frac {Zeit~ of ready status} {plan holding time}

The time of ready status is defined as difference of the plan holding time and the time by plant losses. The plan holding time is defined after VDI 3423 as product of layer length in hours x number of layers x number of working days of a monthly.

The efficiency factor

The efficiency is a measure for losses by deviation from the planned cycle time, smaller losses and no-load operations.

Efficiency factor = Grad~ der~ working on speed \ cdot Netto~ operating time

Grad~ der~ working on speed = \ frac {geplante~ cycle time} {reale~ cycle time} (1)

Netto~ operating time = \ frac {Anzahl~ produzierter~ parts \ cdot reale~ cycle time} {machine run time} (2)

(1) in (2) follows:

Efficiency factor = \ frac {geplante~ cycle time \ cdot Anzahl~ produzierter~ parts} {machine run time}

The machine run time is defined after REFA as the time, in which the machine actually produces, i.e. available process time less down-time, machines down time and use beside times.

The quality rate

The quality rate is a measure for the time delay due to more defective and revising parts. It is defined as follows:

Qualitaetsrate= \ frac {Anzahl~ produzierter~ parts - Anzahl~ of remachining parts - Anzahl~ of substandard parts} {Anzahl~ produzierter~ parts}

Net equipment Effectiveness

The NEE is defined as products of efficiencies, efficiency factors and quality rate. If the formulas specified above are into one another used, then follows:

NEE= \ frac {geplante~ cycle time \ cdot (produzierte~ parts - Anzahl~ of substandard parts - Anzahl~ of remachining parts)}{Plan holding time} \ cdot \ frac {Zeit~ of ready status} {machine run time}
