The new city hall at Marienplatz in Munich is seat of the mayor, the town councillor and head office of the city administration. It was built from 1867 to 1909 of George von Hauberrisser in the again-gothical style.

History

Models for this were the city hall in Brussels as well as the new city hall in Vienna.

1944 with bomb attacks easily damaged, were converted the new city hall after the war. The sections at Marienplatz received an additional floor, which hides itself behind the again-gothical Ballustrade, so that the old impression remained. The front at the landscape road was very simplified restored. End of the 1990er years was general-reorganized the new city hall and reconstructed in details again, so for example the again-gothical Ziergeschmiede, which crowns the roof.

Structure

The complex from baking and Muschelkalkhaustein possesses six inner courts.
