The new political economics (also Public Choice), covers those theories and Forschungsgebiete, which explain political behavior, decision-making processes and structures predominantly on basis of the neoclassical economic theory. The political participants are regarded individually and/or within collectively acting groups such as voters, administrations, parties and syndicates.
