Nikolaus Joseph baron von Jacquin (* 16 February 1727 in suffering; "† 24 October 1817 in Vienna) was a Botaniker and practiced starting from 1752 in Vienna as a physician.

It bereiste 1754-59 west India, in order to get new plants for the imperial gardens to Vienna and After its return he became a professor of chemistry and Botanik first in Schemnitz, then in Vienna, also director of the academic, later the of garden. It stepped 1797 into the retirement and 1806 into the baron conditions was raised.

Nikolaus Joseph baron von Jacquin is Erstbeschreiber of many plants, mushrooms and animals. In the Botanik and Mykologie its name with Jacq is shortened., in the Zoologie with Jacquin.
