In Germany a notaries' association is a body of the public right, to which within the range residents of notaries strength of law belong to the notaries' association. Altogether there are 21 notaries' associations, which are responsible in each case for a certain area, usually a Land of the Federal Republic, in the federal territory. Country widely are organized over 10.000 notaries in the notaries' associations. All regional notaries' associations again are members in the federal notaries' association, which is likewise a body of the public right.

As a body of the public right each notaries' association has public powers, approximately within the range of the order of notaries or regarding disziplinarrechtliche measures. They co-operate closely with the respective national administrations of justice. Besides the notaries' associations are also according to professional status protections of interests.
