The OECD scale is a priority factor imported from the organization for Economic CO operation and development to the international comparability of income computations.
For the computation of the net equivalence income of a need community, a family, all income is e.g. divided by the sum of the members of the need community. This sum is weighted according to a fictitious need. After the OECD scale the main subscriber of the income with the factor 1.0 is received into the weighting, all other members of the need community over 14 years with 0,5 and all different with 0,3.
Example: In a family of five family the married man does not obtain 5000 euro income, the wife "works", two children is 6 and/or 8 years old, a further 15. The net equivalence income amounts to 5000/(1 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.3 + 0.3) = 1923 EUR.
The net equivalence income is consulted for example for the computation of the poverty risk border.
