The OPEL Astra F is a vehicle of the compact class the Adam OPEL AG.

The OPEL Astra F was built as a successor of the OPEL cadet E from 1991 to 1998, a Facelift took place in the Semptember 1994.

General information

With introduction of this vehicle the steeped in tradition model designation cadet was replaced by Astra. This happened, because OPEL replaced all past model designations in the 90's with model changes by art names, which ended on "„A "“. The letter, which indicates the model row, was however continued, why the first branch RA model got the official designation Astra F.

Karosserievarianten

The Astra F was offered in four body forms:

  • with three or five doors
  • Sedan with four doors
  • Combination (caravan) with five doors
  • Cabriolet the Cabrio variant of the OPEL Astra F was sketched by Bertone.
According to Bertone (from 1993 to 1998) 52848 Cabrios were manufactured. Although the Cabrio resembles the three-door sedan optically as far as possible, most body parts are not identical. So are not e.g. fenders, doors, outside mirrors, tank flap and the windshield compatible with the sedan.

Facelift

With a Facelift in September 1994 some details were changed. So e.g. the form of the outside mirrors, the radiator grille, the lateral impact borders and the Design of the rear flap. With the combination the unlacquered tail border (admission of the lock) was painted. With the diagonal and notchback the same border of the GSi Vorfaceliftmodells was blocked. Provided starting from the Facelift all branch-race with chromium-plated signatures and emblems. The Doppelairbag was (except with the export models) starting from September 1994 likewise series.

OPEL Astra F GSi

OPEL continued also with the Astra F its tradition of the GSi row. The Astra F GSi differed outwardly and technically strongly from the standard model. By these aerodynamic improvements the Astra GSi has a better Cw-value and reached thus during same engine performance a higher terminal velocity than the basic model.

In September 1994 the entire Astra received pallet a Facelift, this also to the GSi model was transferred. Starting from this time the GSi did not differ optically any longer from the standard model. Up to the Facelift the GSi was driven out only as three-door integrated starting from the Facelift the GSi also as Schr¤ghecklimosine and as caravan into the product range.

The optical changes of the GSi model of the first series

Front bumper, tail bumper, roof edge spoiler, Seitenschwellerverkleidung, air scoops on the hood, radiator grille, tail screen, particularly colored sport upholstered seats.
