The OPEL cadet B was a vehicle of the compact class the Adam OPEL AG.

The OPEL cadet B was approximately 2.600.000 times built as a successor of the OPEL cadet A from 1965 to 1973 2.600.000.

The chassis was used also for the sports car OPEL GT. The moreover one the bodies cadet of the LS also basis for its were folder Olympia A.

Until model and off model

In the context of the permanent model care there is with the cadet one-special cut, i.e. with the end of the factory holidayses 1967.Die of vehicles starting from this time of the assembly-line ran itself-optically (outwardly particularly within the tail range with larger lights (except combination) as well as a defused interior) and technically (rear axle instead of with leaf springs now with coil springs, Panhardstab and semi-trailing arms) noticeably had changed. The first vehicle with these improvements had those chassis number 1234068.Im partial catalog therefore becomes between to fG. No. 1234067und starting from fG. No. 1234068 differentiated, briefly: Bis-Modellund off model.

  • two-door L (SZL, Fgstnr. 32"…) the so-called with large tail lamps"”
  • two-door LS (SZLS, Fgstnr. 92"…) the so-called or also

The "“luxury equipment"” of L and LS models covered a quantity of Chromzierrat outside and inside, issuing windows with the two-door models (those the three-door caravan by the way also as standard model carries), bumper horns, ashtrays in the rear, lighting for engine compartment, trunk and glove subject, a clock, a lit cigarette lighter, carpet, hood unblocking from the inside, etc."… The standard sedan sold itself better than the L-version, but L was seen even more frequent a higher preservation ratio and is today. Available the cadet was as "“B-model"” for the first time also as "“family-friendly"”, four-door variant, first only for the sedan, after the factory holidayses 1967 also for the combination and the LS. Surcharge-requiring extras with the cadet B were among other things: Sun roof, 3-Gang-Automatikgetriebe with hydraulic torque converter, head restraints in front, H4-Headlight, disc brakes in front (starting from 55PS in series), brake booster, etc. thereby main headers itself the cadet b, technically and equipment-moderately of many of its competitors off. An exception position formed 1700 (75PS) with automatic transmission, which as adequate, in this class at this time of the cadet b comfortable and above all family-suited sedan and nearly 150Km/h cruising speed applied, with which 4-Gang-Schaltgetriebe reached even scarcely 160Km/h. The 1900-S-Motor with 90PS from the OPEL record C was available only for the two-door "“cadet b Rallye"” and the "“luxury cadet"” olympia A and "“scratched"” thereby already times to the 170Km/h-Marke!

In August 1970 the model variants L ("“Kiemencoupe"”) became combination cars (normally and luxury), flow tail sedan LS (two and four-door) as well as the engine variants 15-S (only for export available) and 17-S adjusted.

Engines

In the cadet b 2 kinds of engine were blocked: Beyond that the most-received a "“OHV engine"” (=seitlich steered engine 10N to 12S, 40-60PS) the "“CIH Motorenreihe"” (=Motor with cam shaft in the cylinder head) was used from the OPEL record (15S to 19H, 65-106PS).

OHV engines:

  • 10N: 40 HP /72), only for export (e.g. Italy)
  • 10S: 48 HP only for export (e.g. Italy)
  • 11N: 45 HP (to 8/71)
  • 11N: 50 HP (starting from 9/71)
  • 11S: 55 HP (to 8/71)
  • 11SR: 60 HP (from 11/66 to 8/71)
  • 12S: 60 HP (starting from 9/71)

CIH engines:

  • 15S: 65 HP (from 9/67 to 8/70), only for export (e.g. Sweden and the USA)
  • 17S: 75 HP (from 9/67 to 8/70)
  • 19S: 90 HP (starting from 9/67)
  • 19H: 106 HP /71)

The 19-S was officially the Rallye reserved in Germany, however there was in the USA export the 19-S in all Modellen.Der 19-H (H for "“high speed"”) was in the cadet Rallye 1900 on special wish to be had. This variant was driven out both by the OPEL dealers and by the company stone-cutter and could be normally ordered. In addition one must have however knowledge of this possibility, because in official price lists this variant does not emerge. Thus the number of the Rallye Sprint sold in Germany remained quite small. In the spare parts catalogue there is an auxiliary side with all with the chapter "“engine"” with the Sprint cadet opposite the normal 1900er Rallye cadet deviating parts. To Sweden the cadet B Rallye with the Sprint machine was more frequently sold.
