  • 1.7 litres capacity, 42kW/57PS (1,7D)
  • 1.5 litres capacity, 52kW/72PS (1,5TD Isuzu engine)

Chassis/transmission

The chassis cadet of the E was taken over only slightly modified by the predecessor model cadet D. As typical representatives of front-propelled compact cars it ordered over independent suspension in front at McPherson shock struts with lower wishbones and a torsion beam trailing arm axle in the back. As transmissions 4 was inserted - and 5-Gang-Handschaltgetriebe, also there was a 3-Gang-Vollautomatikgetriebe from the shelf of the nut/mother company general of engine.

The cadet GSi orders 10mm over gas pressure shock absorbers and around more the other models approx. deeper and tauter feathers/springs. The engines cadet of the GSi have an oil cooler with Thermostat.Der cadet GSi are with ABS and power steering to be had when desired. The version without power steering had a of the front axle is equipped the OPEL cadet GSI also ventilated disc brakes.

The bumpers were arranged more to sidesmolder-learn were plastic linings attached, which were Seitenschutzleisten more narrowly, into the hood became exhaust elements integrated, the rear lights by let in plastic strips were darkened. Furthermore the fog tail light was in the rear bumper, whereby the cadet GSi has two back-up lights, the rear windshield wiper due to the tail spoiler was shifted and by a hole in the back window propelled. Characteristics cadet GSI 16V

The cadet GSI 16V came 1988 on the market and was first OPELs the mass production model with four valves per Zylinder.Die characteristic of the assigned engine (internal identification: C20XE for the variants with regulated catalyst) was the common development of the very complex arranged cylinder head with Cosworth in England. The engine has contrary to the 2.0l (C20NE) over a fan elbow union, as well as a knocking regulation. In the comparison to the 2.0l also the suction tube is arranged substantially more The cadet GSI 16V was adapted in numerous points to the achievement of the engine. Thus the rear axle was equipped with disc brakes (two-piston brake calipers) instead of drum brakes. In addition strengthened stabilizers were even used, i.e. at the rear axle an auxiliary stabilizer. Within the range of the body the cadet 16V exhibits a continuous middle cross beam in front and the wheel housings is strengthened in the upper range, at the transition to the A-column. Also within the range of the steering element and at the chassis there are modifications. 5 course transmission (F20) cadet of the 16V likewise the achievement of the engine one adapted.

The interior equipment deviated by another Schaltknauf (leather), as well as the 16V Logo on the steering wheel from the GSI 2.0l.

The Grundaten of this engine

  • 110 KW/150 HP of maximum output with 6000 rpm
  • 196 Nm torque with 4800 rpm

Characteristic data

  • 12,3 bar medium operating pressure
  • Specific fuel consumption: 232 g/kWh (95 Oktan), which an efficiency of 37% corresponds, and long time the world record within the range specific of consumption for engines with numbers of cylinders more largely 4 represented.

Road performances

The factory specifications for the cadet GSI 16V were expressed 8,0s for the acceleration of 0 in 100 km/h and 217 km/h maximum speed.

The cadet GSI 16V in addition also with disc brakes instead of drum brakes at the rear axle was equipped and exhibited compared with the other cadet models partially extensive modifications like strengthened stabilizers and sheet metals, a changed chassis and a changed steering element.

Competition models

The cadet GSI 16V was with 150 HP its direct competition model, the gulf II GTI 16V in the version with catalyst of still 129 HP carried out at that time, within the range of the road performances superior and needed at the same time less fuel than other competition models.

Characteristics of the GT-model

The cadet E GT possesses an easily changed, shorter transmission translation and some special Austattungsmerkmale. So for instance modified bumpers and a standard tachometer.

Characteristics cadet Cabrio

The Cabrio variant of the OPEL cadet E was equipped at the beginning of even in weaker motorizing variants with the body details cadet of the GSI.
