The OPEL record B is a car in the medium range the Adam OPEL AG in Ruesselsheim. This type is a "“intermediate model"” - by July 1965 to June 1966 yet times a whole year is not built, of it only eight months is delivered and then from the very successful OPEL record C replaced. The body is modified compared with its predecessor OPEL record A, it keeps now rectangle headlight, a changed radiator grille and round rear lights (which late with the OPEL Manta A and with the OPEL GT were used) only slight. It is available as sedan, caravan and as elegant In contrast to the chassis record of A it receives a widened rear axle. The hinged tie bar axle is taken over in front by the A-model. Also the instrument panel and the interior equipment correspond to a large extent to the predecessor model.

However with the record B a again-developed engine generation is introduced, which overhauled those technically long and replaced at the power limit concerned Vorkriegsaggregate: 4-Zylinder-Reihenmotoren with obenliegender cam shaft, which calls OPELs "“CIH engines"”. "“CIH"” stands for "“Camshaft in Head"”, cam shaft in the cylinder head. The valves are not moved now no more over long push rods and rocker arms, but operates of the cam shaft over short bucket tappets and rocker arms, shifted into the cylinder head. Also the valve impulse no more is not steered via spur wheels, this task takes over from now on a stable duplex chain. With OPELs had the constructional Potenzial, which resulted from it into the 1980-he 1980 a very successful existence in the engine construction.

Engine program:

  • 1.5 litres of N 60 HP
  • 1.7 litres of S 75 HP
  • 1.9 litres of S 90 HP
  • 2.6 litres (6-Zylinder) of 100 HP (from the OPEL captain A)

Today the record became B not least because of its short production time the rare piece desired from lovers to.

Predecessor and successor
