The OPEL record E was a sedan of the upper passenger car middle class.
As a successor of the OPEL record D the Adam OPEL AG on the IAA 1977 presented the again-developed record. He took over the technology of his predecessor to far parts. The mass production engines from 1.7 Ltr to 2.2 Ltr as conventional Benziner as well as three Diesel variants were available. Up to the Facelift 1982 one calls the model E1, then the model was revised to far parts and was available since 1985 also with ABS and catalyst (E2). From this model the models were derived OPEL Commodore C, OPELs senator and OPEL Monza to far parts.
In Great Britain the model under the name Vauxhall was offered to Carl clay/tone. There the model differed until 1982 substantially from the OPEL record, it had a flat front portion similarly that of the OPEL Manta B. starting from 1982 was only the emblems the distinguisher.
1986 took place the separation via the OPEL omega. In South Africa the record E was further-produced still until 1990, among other things the record E was produced also with Daewoo as "Royal".
