Organizational development (OE) within the management economics the frequently systemic new or transformation of organizational structure and sequence organisation in the enterprise are called. The organizational development covers the change management of the entire enterprise and as independent process within the management is understood. It is closely connected with the personnel development and the quality management.

Contents

  • Optimization of operational sequences, esp. the information losses at interfaces.
  • Goal-prominent reorientation of power structures in teams.
  • Humanization of the working sphere over a higher identification and self implementation.
  • Increase of the flexibility, change readiness and innovation ability.

The subject of the organization diagnosis and the possible changes tying (to it) are not only technical and organizational structures and operational sequence, but also interhuman communication and behavior patterns as well as the standards, values and power constellations (organization culture), dominant in the organization. Determined problems with individual subsystems, groups or persons are not isolated, but context-consciously always examines in their reciprocal effects with the influences of the organizational and social environment and treats (systemic beginning).

Beginnings

OE developed over several beginnings to, which one understands for the 1990er years by it.

  • The first beginning from the WITH comes and the "“Reedukativer in such a way specified beginning"” is called, proceeded from the assumption that the enterprises are and exhibit strongly hierarchical structures.
  • The second action research beginning so mentioned stressed the role of the external advisors and the third beginning as "“Tavistock the beginning"” admits is, puts the emphasis on changes in the sozio technical system.

In the further process OE integrated the beginnings of the open system theory. Rieckmann criticize the effect of OE among other things in the 90's. The organizational development has "“a future only if it has to contribute strategically, systemically, capital and yield-moderately something to the solution business problem definitions from the view of the customers."” RIECKMANN; 1991. S.137)

  • The 3 phase model of Lewin (LEWIN, 1958) was one of the first models, which sat down apart systematically with the change processes in organizations. The origin of this management aspect lies thus in the USA and beginning in Europe since center of the 90"´er years of the past century to be established.

The model of Lewin describes tasks and function that

  • Phase 1: Unfreezing,
  • Phase 2: Moving and
  • Phase 3: Refreezing.

It is interesting that Lewin in its model referred already at that time, in the phase 2 to the learning need. After the 2.Weltkrieg the term of the organizational development in the states (OE) developed already briefly.

Beckhard defines OE as "“an effort, which is planned, released organization far and by the management and used coordinated, by the effectiveness and health of the organization to increase by planned interventions into the system organization using behavior-scientific know-how"”.
