Oribasius (also: Oreibasios of Pergamon); (* 326 in Pergamon, antique Greece; " 403) was an important Greek physician. Oribasius was pupil of the alexandrinischen Dogmatikers Zenon of Kypros. Later it became Quaestur of Konstantinopel and body physician of the emperor Julian of the July to successors the Flavius Valens and Valentinian I. banished Oribasius, but it were later recalled. On July to instruction the produced Oribasius from the works of the Greek physician Galenus and other Greek physicians an encyclopedia in seventy-two volumes (Synagogia latrike), of which it arranged 20 years later first for its son Eustathius a shorter overview in 9 books (Synopsis). Only individual books kept in Greek language.
