For lack of investments ORWO lost the connection starting from the 80's to current technologies, in particular during the color film production. For example ORWO color films up to the end of the GDR were made in the old procedure of the 30's. For this reason the films were only difficult in the Federal Republic of Germany to develop, since many laboratories were furnished to no more for the old technology in the west.
