Paul Luther (* 28 January 1533 in Wittenberg; "† 8. March 1593 in Leipzig) was a German physician.

Life

The third son of Martin Luther and Katharina von Bora studied first the Greek and latin language with Philipp Melanchthon and Vitus Vinsheim. To the advice Melanchthons it turned then to a study of the medicine at the Wittenberger university. In the year 1557 it received the medical and taught starting from 8 December 1558 as a professor of the medicine at the University of Jena.

Whereupon it body physician Johann Friedrich II. from Weimar to its death and stayed daselbst up to the delivery of the city Gotha on 13 April 1567. Thereupon it was called to the brandenburgischen yard to the cure prince Joachim II., up to its death on 3 January 1571. Afterwards it body physician of the cure prince August of Saxonia and its successor Christian I., withdrew themselves was appointed there however because of unrests at that time of the Kryptocalvinisten and diversities of opinion of the Hofe, denationalized themselves in Leipzig and again 1592 as the body physician. To 8. March 1593 deceased Paul Luther in Leipzig.

Luther dedicated itself apart from his chemical medicine research the ore customer, whose final goal was the gold production at that time and thereby "“Unguentum ex developed different medicines nitro"”, "“Magistrum perlarum"”, "“Magistrum collorum"”, "“Unguentum ex nitro"” and "“Aurum potabile"”, the entrance into the Saxonian pharmacies e.g. found.

Family

Dr. Paul Luther was married with Anna von Warbeck. From this marriage 6 children enstammen, from whom, admit two sons, Ernst and Paul, as well as two daughters, Magarethe and Anna are.
