Phonotypie (often also Phonodiktat called) is a term from the office everyday life. One understands by it a writing down of on tape or plate noted dictations.

The Phonotypie replaced the stenography when dictating letters at the beginning of the 1980er years nearly completely.

Digital dictating machines

Today preferably digital dictating machines are used. They are connected by the USB interface with the PC. That has the following advantages:

  • Choice between conference and dictation admission possible
  • the dictating machine does not have to be taken into the hand
  • automatic starting/stop enterprise causes that the dictating machine begins only when speaking with the recording.

The PC dictation

With the PC dictation the recording on the non removable disk is stored, they are transskribiert. In addition one needs a special software and a plug-in card. The PC dictation has the following advantages:

  • one does not need cartridges
  • one does not need a playback unit
  • Dictations can be dispatched by E-Mail.

The dictating rules (DIN 5009)

The precise attention of the dictating rules according to DIN 5009 and the organization rules according to DIN 5008, are absolutely necessary for a reasonable and economic Phonotypie!

In principle differ into the Phonotypie used devices between

  • Disk devices (ASS man ASS) and
  • Tape-units (Stenorette, company Grundig).
