The term pitch designates different circumstances depending upon context. In the following the most important meanings will become called, further ranges of application under Pitchen described.

Economics/marketing

The term pitch designates the competition presentation and/or the sales talk in the economy and/or in marketing, with which an advertising agency or a management consultant in the fight for a budget, a client or an order presents its achievements, concepts and coworkers at the potenziellen customer. Also the selective procedure with the help of competitive presentations is called pitch. A very short conception of an idea for a new product, a service or a project is called also elevator pitch, since this can be accomplished also during the time of a travel in the elevator.

Aviation

In the aviation technology the English pitch designates the angle of incidence of a propeller, with helicopters that collectively (for all sheets together) adjustable angle of incidence of the rotor; with the pitch lever with the helicopter the lift is regulated.

Laser technology

In the laser technology the distances of the individual ingots of a diode laser stack pitch are called. The distance is measured here by the center of an emitter to the center of another emitter.

Music

With professional DJ-record players the number of revolutions of the record can be changed, in order to together adapt two music pieces with unequal speed (Beats by minute) with the transition by means of pitch (Beatmatching).

Sport

In the baseball pitch designates a throw.
