The possession of arms map is a weapon-legal permission. It is regulated in Germany in the weapon law.

In a possession of arms map (firing) the weapons of the owner are officially registered and registered. Usually it acts thereby over sport contactors, hunters or (firearm) collecting tanks. The applicant must prove a need (a reasonable reason) for the weapon acquisition. The need knows itself at the hunt practice, the sport shooting, in special cases at self protection, which collecting weapons and the activity refer weapon experts. Enumerating is not locking. The needs are particularly regulated for the groups of the hunters in "§13 weapon law, for sport contactors in "§14 the weapon law, for the weapon collecting tanks in "§17 weapon law and for the experts in "§ 18 weapon law.

Different possession of arms maps

There are three different possession of arms maps for the private sector:

, === weapon law gives the ===Die "“Greens possession of arms map"” after "§10. For hunters in connection with "§13 weapon law and for sport contactors, one after "§15 weapon law recognized federation, in connection with "§14 weapon law. Into the "“Green possession of arms map"” all kinds of weapons subject to approval and not forbidden can be registered. However each weapon before the acquisition must be requested with the responsible authorizing agency. This requested weapon is then registered before the acquisition into the "“Green possession of arms map"”. An exception applies to hunters as an owner of a valid yearly hunting license. These hunters may acquire and have long weapons after "§13 exp. 3 weapon law without permission these weapons within 14 days to only announce.

===2. The "“yellow possession of arms map " === for sport contactors, one after "§15 weapon law federation, after "§14 exp. 4 weapon law recognized. Owners of such a possession of arms map may acquire single loader long weapons with smooth and pulled barrels, repeating long weapons with rifled barrels, single loader short weapons for fixed ammunition and short and long weapons with primer cap ignition. The number of weapons which can be acquired is not limited. The acquisition must be only announced within 14 days.

===3. The "“red possession of arms map " === for weapon collecting tanks after "§17 weapon law and weapon expert after "§18 weapon law. This possession of arms map is given for firearms of certain kind or a certain assembly area, in special cases also for "“firearms of all kinds"”. The acquired firearms must be only announced within 14 days.

Special arrangements

Hunter

With hunters generally the possession of two short weapons is intended as catch firearm for final hunting of a hurt game or also for the building and trap hunt. The need for further short weapons can be proven in individual cases. Owners of a yearly hunting license may acquire long weapons quantitatively for an unlimited period. Exact regulations result from "§13 weapon law.

With sport contactors also more than the 2 intended short weapons are approved, if an appropriate need is present, approximately with regular match haven in more than 2 different disciplines. The contactors can the possession of arms map with its responsible authorizing agency request, it necessarily further a certificate of its sport contactor activity of its appropriate federation recognized after "§15 weapon law. Exact regulations result from "§14 weapon law.

The possession of arms map justified for the transport of the not firingready weapons to the respective event, thus transport to the shooting range, to the hunt etc. and must be carried thereby together with the identity card or the passport.

Withdrawal of the possession of arms map

During nonqualification of the owner this is extracted from the possession of arms map, which e.g. already with driving a car under influence of alcohol the case can be. Also an inappropriate keeping of the weapons can lead to expiring the possession right of the possession of arms map, for example if with a housing break-down weapons are stolen, which were not kept in a safe deposit or a secured weapon cabinet.

The responsible authorizing agency can require information at any time of the possession of arms map owner to the kind of the Verwahrung of the firearms. The authority if facts are well-known, which suggest an inappropriate Verwahrung of firearms, the authority can control the kind of the Verwahrung with the owner of weapon. A right of the authority to suspicion-independent sample controls does not give it within the range of the private possession of arms.
