Preisschere is a graphic expression from the economy. It describes the Auseinandergehen of proceeds and costs of a product. The production costs rise, while the price of the product on the market (and thus proceeds), which can be obtained, sinks. This makes the production of the product increasingly unprofitable.

The term appears particularly frequently in connection with the European agriculture, since here European production costs often lie opposite those of other continents very highly and so that European agricultural products without subsidies are not profitable.
