A press statement is one for the press determined in writing or verbally spread announcement or statement to a current topic, e.g. a press release or a Dementi.

The press statement given change of the respective institution, e.g. Enterprise, Nichtregierungsorganisationen, political parties and groups, in addition, of PR and advertising agencies or private individuals. Both press agencies and editorships of newspapers, radio and television are receivers of press statements. It is spread then over these and with appropriate relevance becomes a message message from it.

Press releases are frequently abused, in order to launch advertisement into the editorial part of the media. It concerns Schleichwerbung, which is forbidden both after the law and the Kodex of the German press advice.
