The official name that generally linguistic usage as Nobelpreis for economic science or Wirtschaftsnobelpreis admitted briefly of i honor is Sveriges Riksbanks pris ekonomisk vetenskap till Alfred Nobels minne (German price of the Swedish realm bank for economic science in memories of Alfred Nobel).

The comparison is however doubtful, there in the same period 50 Nobelpreise for medicine, 36 Nobelpreise for chemistry and 51 Nobelpreise for physics at Americans was lent. The general criticism at the nominating and contracting method of the Nobelpreise applies also on the Nobelpreis to economic science: the winners are by a small circle, the documents in addition are subject to a fifty-year old secrecy period.
