Prioritization (of latin more prior=der upper, see also: Prior) is the classification after precedence of tasks which can be settled, problems, acquisitions, building project, activities etc. after its meaning or importance e.g. with the categories: importantly (with priority) - less importantly (subordinate) or: at short notice - medium-term - on a long-term basis. The prioritization serves for it, the limited (financial) means to use capacities and the time meaningfully.

A procedure for the prioritization is the ABC analysis, with which the tasks are divided in three categories:

  1. A = very importantly or urgently,
  2. B = importantly or urgently,
  3. C = less importantly or urgently.
