The production part acceptance procedure (English: Production part Approval Process (PPAP)) is a procedure, with which production items are sampled. This proceeding originates from the automobile industry and for years is successfully converted there. It concerns particularly the quality of the supplied parts, that means that the parts from the series tools and/or series processes must correspond to the designs. Beside the parts supplied for examination the first sample test report in such a way specified places (EMPB) (English: part tender warrant (PSW)) a central element for the sampling process. In it all important information is combined and documented into requirements and tests.

The exact procedure for example with the order of the parts and also the supply differs from enterprises to enterprises quite very strongly. Same applies also to the time of sampling. Thus sensitive parts for a long time before Serienanlauf sampled during other parts before production start at sampling to arrive only directly.

All sampling is however one common: The organization to 5 different levels of sampling:

  • Even 1: Only the partial collecting main confirmation (PSW) is submitted to the customer;
  • Even 2: Partial collecting main confirmation (PSW) with sample parts and reduced supporting data are submitted to the customer;
  • Even one 3: Partial collecting main confirmation (PSW) with sample parts and comprehensive supporting data are submitted to the customer;
  • Even 4: Partial collecting main confirmation (PSW) and other demands, as they were specified by the customer;
  • Even 5: And complete supporting data stand for partial collecting main confirmation (PSW) with sample parts at the production location

the supplier for an evaluation for the order;

During sampling different status are then specified, which it give a statement about it, whether the parts correspond to the demands, to be done over again to have or even completely again to be requested have. This status however again completely individually depending upon enterprises are specified.

In principle there are some substantial demands, which apply to all enterprises however with the production part acceptance procedure. In addition a representative production run counts. This production run must cover one until eight hours, with a specific output of at least 300 sequential parts (excerpt from the AIAG demand (of automotives Industry Action Group)):

In addition further 19 demands are generally described, which are simply listed in the following, but to be not further explained:

  1. 1. Design recordings/Design record
  2. 2. Documents over technical changes/engineering CHANGE document
  3. 3. Technical release/engineering Approval
