The professional schools for public administration also administrative professional schools) are internal professional schools of the federation and a large part of the Lands of the Federal Republic. They serve the training of the candidates for the elevated service in the public administration, by obtaining the expertise and scientific methods necessary for the practise of the profession as well as occupation-practical abilities.

Practical and theoretical training

The training takes place on the one hand in theoretical studies at the professional schools and on the other hand in practical sections during practical courses at different authorities. The studying stand during their training in an official relationship on revocation and receive candidate purchases. Entrance to the study

Since it concerns administrativeinternal mechanisms, can only study there, who is delegated by a serve-gentlemanable body, donation or an institute of the public right to the professional school. Exception is at present the professional school for administration and justice Berlin, which externalisiert some their courses of studies. Possibly a trend is characterised here for separating the training and/or the study from the public public service employment law, as it is with the occupation of teacher, with the study of the social work or also the legal occupation already partly the case.

Allocation of the study

The study is usually into the three sections reason, head and conclusion study arranged, which are of each other separate by practical course sections. It takes, depending upon Land of the Federal Republic three and/or four years and ends with the award of a diploma degree (FH), e.g. in the field general internal administration "„diploma administrative landlord (FH) "“, the field administrative management economics diploma administrative operation manager (FH) "“, in the field fiscal administration "„diploma financial landlord (FH) "“, in the law diploma right male nurse as well as the acquisition of the official-legal career capability for the respective field of the elevated service.

Study reform

Momentarily in the context of the Bologna process a controversy debate is led whether and how in the next years the conversion of the past diploma to European-wide recognized Bachlor courses of studies is to take place. It is stated that one the graduates of diploma on a long-term basis the connection to the next stage of qualification - which master conclusion would block. Further there is also the idea that the training is to be only resumed commissioner candidate/inside by the - the other courses of studies would be omitted then, and/or by free universities to be again taken up.
