Progress numbers are (particularly in the management economics) cumulated quantities related to a certain time. Progress numbers are particularly a procedure for the control of supplies between the supplier and its customer, agreed upon in mass production production originally between automobile companies and their suppliers. With the help of the progress numbers changes of dates and quantities can be represented clearly.

With the progress number concept become in production planning up to partial level for same periods (e.g. Week) the quantities which can be supplied determines. From this the target progress being result. The day-exact collection of the actual quantities leads to the actual progress numbers. The comparison of target progress being and actual progress numbers makes a simple monitoring and controlling possible of the insisting and/or reaction to the Bedarfe. If the actual progress number lies over the target progress number (red line over the blue line), then one speaks of an advance situation, which either in days (horizontal greener line) or in a quantity unit (perpendicular magentafarbener line) be measured can. If the red line is under the blue line, then arrears are present.

The control of order quantities reduces the storekeeping and thus the capital freeze with the manufacturer; if the supply is co-ordinated time-exactly with production planning, one speaks also of Just in time manufacturing.

Since the progress numbers a firm component of delivery calls is, is easily evident with the tuning of the progress numbers between suppliers and customers, who commodity on the way is.
