A project management manual (also: PM-manual) should contain all basic conditions and standards, which are used in an enterprise or an organization regarding (internal and external) projects. Possible contents of a PM-manual are: Project criteria, kinds of project, project organization and -, courses of project, PM-processes, methods of the project planning roll and - control, PM-glossary as well as various appendices (e.g. collecting mains, check lists, work-manage).

According to DIN 69905 a PM-manual is a "“composition of regulations, those within an organization for the planning and execution of projects generally applies."”

It is to be made certain that a PM-manual is kept as pragmatic and understandable as possible. All too complicated and extensive manuals are in practice hardly accepted and used. Beyond that the production of a PM-manual should be embedded into a superordinate organizational development process for the Professionalisierung and optimization of the project management. The production of a PM-manual alone is not enough to introduce out around methods of the project management in the enterprise. It is particularly important to win the high-level personnel for the topic projects manager and - team members sufficiently to train and software Tools if necessary for support to introduce.
