The purchase manager index (EMI) is since 1996 monthly a published indicator for economic development in Germany. Of the press agency Reuters it becomes assigned by the BME (Federal association stock management, purchase and logistics) and NTC Research provides. It orients itself at the US-American Purchasing of manager index (PMI).

The EMI supplies an index value (around the value 50 as reference line): An index value over 50 improved, an index value worsened estimate to the state of business on.

  • Situation concerning orders
  • Export orders
  • Material/material used quantities
  • Finished product quantities
  • Purchase prices
  • Number of persons employed

EMI and/or PMI belong like e.g. also the consumer climatic index or the oil price to the group of the indicators, whose development the share indices affect recognizably.
