Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA) is the national broadcast of Afghanistan. The society consists of radio Afghanistan for sound broadcasting, Television Afghanistan for the television, the orchestra radio Television Afghanistan Musicians and a theatre radio Afghanistan Theatre. Beside the head office in the capital Kabul gives it regional mechanisms in the country. At present approximately 3,000 coworkers for the transmitter are active.

The Taliban regime stopped the television during their seizure of power. After the fall of the Taliban at the end of of 2001 it was introduced again and in sound broadcasting was again permitted the spreading by music.

The transmit mode still takes place to reduced extent. Radio Afghanistan sends daily 18 hours, whereby seven hours over central and short wave reach approximately 50 per cent of the country. The remaining eleven hours program regionally in Kabul over UKW are spread.

For the television the German wave supplies daily a twelve newscast to Persian and to Paschtu with. This transmission financed by the Foreign Office is to be adjusted in the year 2006. Furthermore the German wave helps with the training of journalists in the framework the German wave academy.

At the location Balch is produced for the region Masar e Scharif the radio broadcasting program radio Afghanistan Masar e Scharif. Develop approximately four to six hours program daily. Furthermore there is there also a program in Uzbek language. In addition a television program Television Afghanistan Masar e Scharif is manufactured there.
